The Prime Minister Essay The Prime Minister still didnt believe him so god ended up killing all mortal things, the prime minister is scared god tells him he can raise the dead and the prime minister asks god and begs him to bring everything back as it once was then god closes the lid on his coffin and says why? Who are you? Like the prime Minster once questioned god. So then all life was over. God did this in the story because that was his way or saying he does not want humans to interfere with how humans are created and it is not right for humans to be created by any other means other than the natural way. It is a kind of warning sign this story is sending the message across that creating humans in other ways is not right and shouldnt be done. But man really want to play with science and be like god once was because they would love to be responsible for a new human race and feel like a really powerful person like a leader, but these people often plan on doing this without thinking about the consequences, they are generally greedy money wanting people and only think about the facts that they will be rich and god like and a leader of a new human race, they totally ignore the fact that things could go wrong though. In Mary Shelleys story.. Frankenstein many things go wrong. The story is about a normal everyday human (Victor Frankenstein) a boy who grows up to be a doctor and study medicines and humans. In the story Victor Frankenstein creates a living thing much like a human but this creature was made from dead peoples body parts that Victor stole. Victor was being greedy and did not think about the bad points, just the good he did not think of the consequences. In the story Victor later admits this. Here is a quote form the story proving this: I did not think beyond putting my ideas into action all I wanted to do was to prove I could make life (pg 16) that quote also shows a reason why he wanted to do it. He wanted to prove he could make life. Again a greedy reason thinking of all the money he would get out of it. Again it tells us how desperate man is to be the creator and leader of a human race. They long for powerfulness over a new race. This is not good as it could get well out of hand. Victor Frankenstein was a man broken down by sorrow, hen he was younger his mother died during childbirth I think this is why victor was so desperate to create new life and make life last longer. He was very interested in science and wanted to be the BEST creating a human would make him the best. He felt the need to be a kind of god using his scientific powers. But then when the creature had been finished it turned out very ugly and ran away from Victor. Victor had already come across a problem as soon as the creature woke up! The monster started killing humans, he was angry because he was different to other living things. He felt he needed to be loved he realised he was different to others and got angry, he knew no-one would love him. Because people discriminated against him he turned very nasty. I think this is how Frankenstein his self (Victor) felt thats why he created this-to get attention. This is very worrying. I feel that is what may happen nowadays and there would be many problems if it did. Mary Shelley the author of Frankenstein had a bad life herself and a tough time growing up, I feel this is why she was so good at expressing her words while describing how the monster felt. Mary Shelley is concerned with ethnics and relationships with the human consequences of both the monster and Frankenstein and his loved ones of how we should live in times of rapid change and this is just as relevant to us now as it was for her then. I feel she is sending the message across that it will cause us lots of problems if we play god and change the rules of creation. I think Mary Shelley is just another person who has thought about the whole idea of manipulation and is scared it will get out of hand, although it is very hard to stop humans play god. I think she wrote Frankenstein to warn us things could go bad. Its very hard to stop all this though, humans are already starting to clone things one example is dolly the sheep. Doctors cloned a sheep and named it dolly the name dolly sounds very innocent to make it sound like a good thing. Many people think its a good idea because sheep arent exactly a very intelligent animal and the more sheep we have the more lamb there is to eat and wool to make things with, so it sounds like a good idea but there can be downsides to this the sheep are like zombies and there can be sheep that go wrong and are formed wrong. It is cruelty to animals and shouldnt be done, again its all down to selfishness thats what it all boils down to. People who want to be rich they are greedy and dont even consider how cruel it is they just think about how much money they will have. Cloning sheep is not for the benefit for mankind, neither is cloning humans it is just peoples desires to be god like it is wrong and selfish people just crave to be leaders of new races thats all. The doctor who created dolly the sheep wants permission to clone humans but I think thats going to far, it would not be successful there would be too many difficulties and there would be a lot of racism going on, so cloning is not very successful. Frankenstein is very relevant to the stories we hear in the newspaper thats why it is such a good story! Its about a man getting greedy trying to prove a point that life can be created in different ways, but why does it have to be put into action? We know it shouldnt be done!!! Man is getting to clever for their own good. I think Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein as a warning to us that making new life using science is wrong and dangerous. And that there is only one god, n nature should be let to run its own course, I think the articles in the newspapers are trying to tell us whats going on and we should put a stop to it. Making all these new races is not a good thing it is dangerous and very unsuccessful. Victor Frankenstein in the story is like god in the story of genesis but the thing is what Frankenstein done was very dangerous. This should be a very clear warning that it should not be done. Also I think dolly the sheep was created so they thought if they could successful clone a sheep they could do bigger and better things! But thankfully there are many articles telling people it is wrong so hopefully it will put more people off. Frankenstein probably was the best story to show us what can happen and Im sure Mary Shelley intended to do that. It is a very good book and sends across a very strong point. I believe that it is always men because people think that the word men or man seems more powerful and stronger I myself dont believe this and I think especially in this day and age woman have the same right as men. Ancient Egypt Ancient Egypt is located along the Nile River of Northeastern Africa. More specifically, it is the territory where ancients Egyptians lived in the valley of the delta and the Nile. It was a thriving civilization for more than 3,000 years, from about the time of 3300 BC to 30BC. The culture of Ancient Egypt is identified and very well known for many aspects of their ways of life. Considering the time period, they were very technologically advanced. This can especially be seen through the great pyramids and hieroglyphs that elaborately decorate the walls of them. Pyramids were not small structures. In fact the largest one was over fifty stories high. In addition they were also built completely by manual labor. Labor consisted of moving limestone blocks that weighed on average 2.5 metric tons and could weigh up to 15 metric tons. In addition they had to form these blocks, move them, and sculpt them into the great structures known as the Pyramids. As you can imagine they took several decades of day in and day out work to complete these massive structures. The hieroglyphs were also an important part of not only the Ancient Egyptian culture but the pyramids especially. They provided pictorial descriptions for burial chambers, temples, jewelry, and important statu es. Ways to decipher them were unknown until the discovery of what is known as the Rosetta Stone. The Lack of African American TV Shows

The norms of American television during its early years have always been focused on the so-called â€Å"social whiteness† owing to the fact that shows have always been dominated by the whites.This theory of racial subjugation was eventually refuted since white and black characters after the 1980s do get the same amount exposure on TV shows. Considering the height of racial discrimination in the United States, the lack of African American TV shows is not surprising though African American celebrities have the same acting skills as non-African Americans.The shows allotted for African-Americans, predisposed or not, have been limited to situation comedies (sitcoms) and stand-up comics to exemplify that these marginalized sector indeed does get the equality of quantity of said TV acts.To cite in history, there was the â€Å"Amos N’ Andy Show† which commenced in 1928 as a thirty-year radio show and broadcasted on television in 1951 which only lasted for two years becau se of the massive protests by the black community. It was the lone TV show with an all-black cast during the period. There was also â€Å"The Beulah Show,† â€Å"The Nat King Cole,† â€Å"All in the Family,† â€Å"The Jeffersons,† â€Å"Good Times,† â€Å"What’s Happening,† â€Å"That’s My Mama,† and â€Å"Sanford and Son.†The era of â€Å"The Roots,† â€Å"The Cosby Show,† â€Å"Different Strokes,† â€Å"Webster,† â€Å"Gimme A Break,† and the â€Å"A-Team† also came. Many contemporary TV shows featuring African Americans followed thereafter including NBC’s â€Å"Hidden Hills,† FOX’s â€Å"The Bernie Mac Show† and â€Å"Cedric the Entertainer Presents†¦,† ABC’s â€Å"My Wife and Kids,† CBS’s â€Å"Robbery Homicide Division† and â€Å"Hack.†The former network WB also aired black-oriented shows as â €Å"The Hughleys,† â€Å"The Steve Harvey Show† and â€Å"The Jamie Foxx Show.† To enhance racial diversity, WB also featured â€Å"ER,† â€Å"Smallville,† â€Å"Gilmore Girls,† â€Å"Friends† and â€Å"The West Wing.† Meanwhile, UPN introduced â€Å"The Parkers,† â€Å"One on One,† â€Å"Girlfriends,† and â€Å"Half and Half.† Even the popular reality TV shows â€Å"Survivor† and â€Å"Big Brother† even incorporated black contestants in them.According to Screen Actors Guild (SAG) in 1991, schedules for prime time shows are still segregated in that African American dominated shows were isolated still and in some networks like FOX and NBC, the blacks were still underrepresented, such the term â€Å"ghettoization† of African American TV shows.Studies by SAG further revealed that there are two types of programming: first, â€Å"resourceful† programming wherein some shows incl uded a racially diverse cast and â€Å"missed â€Å"opportunity† in which no effort is made at all to broaden their horizons in terms of casting.An example of the first type is â€Å"The Practice† where it gave importance to African American casts, placing them in major roles with long screen times. As have been mentioned earlier, African Americans did not have much opportunity in drama and more serious roles.Shows like â€Å"Sex and the City† and HBO’s â€Å"Six Feet Under† put blacks in very minor, insignificant characters. Oftentimes, blacks are associated with being criminals, villains, gangs, troublemakers, street people, mobs, sidekicks or subordinates in TV performances. These racial stereotyping is not helpful in terms of reconciling the diversified cultures of blacks and whites living in one nation.It cannot be denied that television is one of the most influential media of information dissemination in the world today. Amidst globalization , television plays a great role in shaping the minds and perspectives of people about things happening in their immediate environment. The squaring off of cultural, racial and sexual distinctions should be given priority if indeed the goal of unification and eliminating discrimination is to be realized.The lack of African American TV shows is an illustration as to the inequality of racial representation in media. Even if African Americans constitute only a marginalized portion of the population, they should be given equal TV exposure to indicate that racial chauvinism has been resolved and eliminated. If whites are shown to overshadow the blacks on TV, the audience will get the idea that impartiality still exists even in the entertainment industry.It should be emphasized that television serves as an important cultural medium. Through this instrument, people learn about cultures of the different races.Whether genuine or not, what is shown on TV will be the image that the audience wil l grasp regarding that particular culture. This is the reason why extra care and caution must be considered when depicting cultures on TV shows since they shape the representation of that ethnicity.As mentioned earlier, African Americans often have negative persona in many TV shows. Because of this, the audience will tend to generalize that African Americans are indeed those kinds of people. This brings about a complex societal problem with regards to people’s attitudes towards African Americans.In conclusion, the lack of African American TV shows is not merely a question of the quantity of shows broadcasted on television but it is also a question of the quality of shows that are being aired globally.Cultural sensitivity is an important factor in that African American characters should not be limited to being slapstick comedians and humorists, but their roles must exemplify what the true black culture is in order to educate people about their beliefs and ideologies. It is onl y through a wider and deeper understanding of other ethnicities can we solve the problem of racial prejudice.Therefore, it is quantity coupled with quality of African American TV shows that will make the imparting of the black society more meaningful and constructive to be able to correct the mistaken identities of African Americans. Essay Military Women Should NOT Be Allowed in Combat...

There are growing feelings in the United States that, as women are having more rights given to them that were previously restricted, women should be given everything that is offered to men. This is becoming very true in the military, where much sentiment is that women should be given the opportunity to serve in combat arms positions. Women are currently allowed to serve in combat support positions, such as military intelligence and air support positions, but they are not allowed to serve in positions such as infantry, armor, or field artillery. Many believe that it is time to open these positions to women soldiers and allow them to serve in the front lines of combat. Overall, many feel that it is crippling to the idea of equality to not allow women to serve in any position that they chose to in the military, and that women should be given the opportunity to prove themselves able to do the job. Women should not be allowed to serve in combat arms positions because many of them are not physically able to perform well in this capacity. It is a known fact that, as a group, men are stronger than women. One of the primary reasons that women are barred from combat arms positions is because their physical strength is inferior to that of men- and rightfully so. Combat arms positions requires great physical strength and endurance to perform a multitude of physical tasks, including marching while carrying weapons and heavy gear, hours of physical training, and lifting dead comrades during training exercises. Of course a combat arms soldiers duties are endless, and most of them require much strength and endurance. According to the February 1999 edition of Readers Digest, a US Nav y study revealed that women possess half of the lifting power of men.
